No mulligans are allowed. Hit one and play it on the first tee. There are no gimmie putts. If it is a tap in – then tap it in.
Golfers are allowed to lift, clean, and place the ball through the green except in hazards. The ball can be moved no more than 6 inches no closer to the hole. Golfers cannot change the playing condition of the ball by this move. For example, the ball can’t be moved from rough to fairway or fringe to green.
OUT OF BOUNDS – LOST BALL – PENALTY AREA
All penalties in GAMS are 1 stroke penalties.
Determine the spot where the ball crossed into the OB AREA or PENALTY AREA or the spot where the ball was lost. Place the ball within 2 club lengths of that spot no closer to the hole or back on the line of the next shot. Apply 1 stroke penalty and play on. Three minute limit searching for a lost ball.
BUNKERS
If a ball comes to rest in a bunker that has not been kept or any outside agent other than the ball in play has had any influence on condition of the bunker, ( footprints or divots, animal tracks or digging, washed out area, etc) the ball can be picked up, the area in question raked, and the ball placed back in the raked area, as near to the original spot as possible. A “fried egg lie” or other condition caused by the ball in play must be played as it lies. The player must make it known to his playing partners and all be agreeable that a rake and placement is necessary.
Other than Lift Rake and Replace, normal USGA bunker rules apply.
ONE BALL RULE
A player must complete play of the hole with the ball with which he began the hole unless he changes balls during the following exceptions: the original ball is lost or defaced, or when taking relief from hazard or out of bounds. Players can change balls between holes and are not required to play the same brand or type ball for the entire round. A player who substitutes another ball when not permitted incurs a stroke penalty.
Contested playing situations should be reconciled by consulting others in the playing group whenever possible. If this is not possible, play a provisional ball until the hole is completed; and the club professional will rule when your round is completed.
POINT SYSTEM
Bogey = 1 pt Par = 2 pt Birdie = 3 pt Eagle = 4 pt Dble Eagle or ACE = 6 pt
Pick up your ball when you have reached a score of double bogey.
QUOTA UPDATE
Quotas will be updated after each round played in GAMSGolf competition – only rounds played in GAMSGolf competition will be used to update quotas. There is no maximum quota. The minimum quota is 6.
The scale below is used to update quotas.
No change in quota for 0, 1, or 2 over or under quota.
3 pts up or down is the maximum change in quota.
+3 or -3 Up or Down 1
+4 or -4 Up or Down 2
+ 5 or -5 Up or Down 3
SCORING
A Golfer in each cart should keep the score of all golfers in the group on the course scorecard – recording the points earned by each golfer in the group.
Each group will have a score sheet that will list the name of each golfer in that group as well as a place to record the points earned in the round. This sheet must be turned in after the round is complete. Double check scores because once the sheet is turned in the score cannot be changed.
FLIGHTS AND PAY OUT
The number of flights and the number of golfers in each flight for each event will be determined after sign-up is complete. Golfers will be placed in flights based on quota and will compete against other golfers with a similar quota.
The top 4 places in each flight win payouts. The total amount of winnings for each flight will be the same, and ties will split the place winnings equally. For example, if two golfers tie for first they will split the first and second place winnings. If there is a three way tie for second, the three golfers will be split the winnings for the remaining places.
Flight places will pay the following amount:
1st $25 2nd $20 3rd $15 4th $10 Hole In One Pot will begin at $50 and add $15 at each tournament. Total goes to first golfer to score an ACE.
Each par 3 close up pays $15 unless there are less than 40 golfers. High Point Man (low gross) wins $25.
All results will be posted to the website ASAP after the tournament. Please do not congregate around the volunteers that are recording results.
MOUNTAIN CUP
Golfers earn Mt. Cup points when they participate in an event. Points are awarded as listed:
Participate = 20 Close up = 10 Flight 1st = 20 2nd = 15 3rd = 10 4th = 5
Additional points are earned based on Net Score. Plus points will be added to Mt Cup points for that tournament. No points are deducted for a minus score.
Golfers who tie for places in flights will each be awarded the points for Mountain Cup Brackets. For example, if two golfers tie for first they will each be awarded 20 Mountain Cup points.
